The fact that it is a hybrid structure makes for an interesting scenario, but does it satisfy the purification limits and provides value for its bizarre price tag? Let’s break it down. 

Design Dyson Purifier Humidify Cool Formaldehyde

The fan is designed in a modern style and is available in white and gold or nickel and gold. The colors it represented truly were outstanding as they suited any interior with its futuristic look. It measures 36.33 inches tall, 12.28 inches long, 11.02 inches wide, and 18 pounds. It contains a filter and a convenient remote control that allows you to change airflow direction, speed, humidity, oscillation, etc. The Dyson Link app will help to control it anywhere. With all these functions in the remote control and added to that it also displays the air quality in the room in real time. It supports voice control via Amazon Alexa, Siri, and Google Assistant.

Control Panel

The remote control configuration includes the standby button on the top left, the auto purify mode button below, and the airflow speed toggle up and down button. Following that is the Oscillation button, followed by the Sleep timer button. The Information menu button is on the top right-hand side, followed by the Auto humidify mode button, humidity control toggle button, Airflow direction, and Night mode button at the bottom. For further functionality, the Dyson Link app carries the same control giving you the freedom to control the appliance from anywhere in your home.

The tiny LCD display front and center of the purifier provides real-time information on the overall air quality reading, so you don’t have to glance in the app to check the current data. The fan automatically increases the speed when a slight change in quality is detected and the display panel is a great way to visualize your home’s air quality.

Airflow and filtration stages

As the name suggests, the Dyson Purifier Humidify Cool Formaldehyde is primarily tasked with eradicating formaldehyde. Instead of just holding the chemical, the catalytic filter breaks it down and neutralizes it. Other purifiers contain carbon filters generally for this purpose in trapping harmful VOC, unlike Dyson Purifier Humidify and Cool Formaldehyde. Household chemicals that are used occasionally contain this element.

Indoors the sensory function of the Dyson and the ability to clear odors is perfect. Although it does not achieve the air purification rate of traditional air purifiers it can definitely contribute through its mid-range purification and clearing of harmful VOCs indoors. 

Noise levels

The noise of the Dyson Purifier Humidify Cool Formaldehyde at the setting of the first and the second fan speeds can be silent and barely noticeable. But at the faster fan speed, the fan noise can be louder up to 46dB and when increased up to level 10 the noise is almost unbearable. However, these levels are hardly used and still can produce considerable noise around 56dB.

Operation and Maintenance cost

The combi filter which is combined with HEPA and activated carbon needs to be changed once a year. The cost of getting a traditional filter and the Dyson Purifier Humidify Cool Formaldehyde will be the same with less purification in terms of particulate filtering. Therefore when purchasing make sure what kind of filtration is prominent and the surrounding of the home.  The price point of the Dyson Purifier Humidify and Cool Formaldehyde can be a bit surprising as it bears a price point of just over 900 dollars.

Our opinion

The Dyson Purifier Humidify Cool Formaldehyde is very effective in clearing odors at your home. The air purifier can also effectively clean the air of pollens and dust while providing the functionality of the fan and eliminating formaldehyde. For people with allergens to certain VOCs and pollutants, the Dyson will assist in many ways. But with an expensive price tag and below-par air purification performance, the Dyson will not define your purchasing choice when the priority is air purification.
